long read

🪽haven’t been active in a bit (life happens lol) but there are some personal updates i’d love to get out of my own head and some current events relating to mental health that are super important🪽

🐾 SO back in like, i don’t know, December? i was struggling to get my ADHD medication because it was always out of stock. my doc knew about this and gave me a standing script for Vyvanse just in case of emergencies. i was about to go on a holiday to the DR to meet my new step mom (who is like one of my favorite people she is so special) and absolutely did NOT want to go through addy withdrawal whilst in a country i was not familiar with, meeting new people. so i filled the Vyvanse and while i was out of town, realized i preferred it to other stimulants ! 🐾

🐾 since then i have been rocking it on Vyvanse in tandem with my Prozac, Trazodone, and Hydroxyzine… oh and my bi-weekly therapy sesh. was only a bit worried about serotonin syndrome, the worry came and went, i’m still rocking it out lol. as a kid i responded pretty poorly to Vyvanse, so needless to say i was scared. But if you’re ever in a situation where, as an adult, a doctor suggests a medication that you had a poor emotional reaction to as a minor (within reason ofc) consider trying it at least for the first three weeks. UNLESS you start feeling like you might hurt yourself and others, in which case call your doctor and go to the hospital.

some stuff happened in the world recently… let’s talk about it 🙊🎙️

🌎 as you and others most def heard because it was like a big deal, RFK announced that he was going to find the cause of Autism by September, 2025. he claims like there is a huge spike in Autism diagnosis in children (which is backed up my stats) and that we have to find the environmental cause for it. and in order to find that cause the HHS will be purging private medical and pharmaceutical data from insurance companies in order to compile a large national database for Autism research. the news prodcasted this as an “autism registry”, though the statements of that sort have been walked back (somewhat?) the threat of a national database full of the private information of some of our most vulnerable citizens is still a concern for many parents and individuals alike.

💭my thoughts n feelings💭

first and foremost, i know for a fact without seeing statistics there has been a spike in children getting diagnosed with Autism. mainly because in recent years there has been a ton of research done in the realm of girls/women having autism. the idea that Autism is an issue NOW because more children are getting diagnosed is asinine to say the very least. new information regarding how Autism is shown in women, not just men, is the reason there are more children diagnosed. there is no “environmental cause” for Autism, this is the difference between correlation and causation.

violating the privacy rights of citizens isn’t a new concept in America, but this is a new low. there is a surplus of medical research and data showing that Autism is a congenital condition. Heritability is the biggest factor when it comes to Autism. obviously there are factors that increase the general odds that a child will have autism, but none that can be prevented by anything other than eugenics, genocide, and sterilizing people over 40.

the idea that my own private medical data is going to join millions of others’ on a database that is being created in an attempt to prevent us is devastating. i’m lucky that my autism isn’t so severe that i can’t work, write a poem, or play baseball or whatever fuck shit he said. but i have close relatives who will never be able to live on their own because of theirs and who definitely do not understand what this kind of language insinuates for Autistic people. “Finding the environmental cause” of Autism sounds a lot like, “Finding a way to prevent those who carry the gene for Autism from procreating”. as someone who understands what the “environmental cause” of Autism is. the “cause” for Autism is not vaccines, it’s not Red-40, it’s not high fructose corn syrup, and it’s not the hormones in our meat. it’s my mothers-mother carrying a genetic mutation that she passed down when she had her children. 3/10 of her grandchildren were diagnosed with Autism. if you’re not as scared as i am, that’s okay. if you don’t agree with my opinions, that’s also okay. my emotions about this specific topic , however, are nonnegotiable and i will continue to utilize my Autism to advocate for my brothers and sisters in arms who are unable to advocate for themselves. i am surrounded by people who invalidate and argue against my right to privacy and treat my Autism like it’s a negative. some of my closest friends and family are in part responsible for the fascism Americans suffer under currently. but i stand strong despite this and prove them wrong every chance that i get. there is something to be said about somebody who is okay and encourages mass privacy violations in an attempt to discontinue a variety of people so that others can be more comfortable, because at the end of the day why else would anyone want to cure a neurological condition that effects every person differently and varies in severity.
