TEETHING BABY HACKS
NOTHING is worse than seeing your baby in pain and not being able to take it away. These are the best tips I’d used to help me with my little. Hope this can help someone else make the process more manageable for their little 🤍✨
1. Chilled Teething Toys: Place teething rings or toys in the fridge (not the freezer) to provide a soothing, cool sensation for sore gums. I find the freezer is too cold and my little won’t hold it.
2. Frozen Washcloth: Wet a clean washcloth, twist it, and freeze it for your baby to gnaw on. The texture and coldness can relieve gum pain.
3. Breastmilk/ formula Popsicles: Freeze breastmilk in a popsicle mold or ice cube tray with a handle. It’s a comforting and familiar option for teething babies.
4. Natural Remedies
• Chamomile Tea: Brew a mild chamomile tea, cool it completely, and let your baby chew a chamomile-soaked cloth or just like the popsicle method. Chamomile has natural calming properties to help with pain.
5. Cold Fruits in a Feeder: Put chilled fruits (like apple slices or frozen bananas) in a mesh or silicone feeder. They’re tasty and soothing.
6. Gentle Gum Massage: Wash your hands and gently rub your baby’s gums with your finger for quick relief.
7. Teething Gel Alternatives: Avoid gels with benzocaine or lidocaine. Use natural alternatives like chamomile-based gels or homeopathic teething drops (after consulting a pediatrician).
8. Amber Teething Necklace (Supervised): While some parents swear by amber necklaces, they should only be used under strict supervision to avoid choking hazards.
9. Distract and Play: Sometimes, a good distraction works wonders. Engage your baby with their favorite toys or songs to take their mind off the discomfort.
10. Cool Spoon: Chill a small metal spoon in the fridge and let your baby gum on it. The cold, smooth texture can feel soothing.
Good luck mamas 💕
