Mom Icks - FTM
Let me start this post out with…if any of these apply to you (minus the last one) that’s fine. These are just my icks. Everyone has them.
First ick for me…the over the top “Jesus” moms. Everything they say and post about their kids/parenting has God/Jesus involved. A lot of these moms really think that makes them better than anyone else. It just makes me cringe. 🥴
This ick will certainly be controversial I’m sure but moms who don’t let family and friends hold their baby. I’m not saying I assume I should be able to hold my friend’s baby’s. I don’t. But I could just personally not imagine telling my grandmother or close friends “no you can’t hold him”. I’m just an “it takes a village” type mom. I know the people in my life have enough common sense to not hold him if they’re sick. Other than that, it doesn’t bother me.
Montessori toys…omg…people LOVE these things but I just think they are so boring and lack creativity. My son has all kinds of colorful flashy toys and I feel like he genuinely enjoys playing with him. The plain wooden toys and what not he looks at and moves on.
Unlike my last icks, this one is wrong to me and I won’t budge on it. It’s a super ick. The other ones I’m like “yeah they bother me but that’s peoples preferences and everyone is different.” This is just a flat out no. I cannot stand people who shame mothers for how they choose to feed their baby. I started with BF and moved onto formula. My son is still happy, healthy and loved. It’s no one’s business how you feed your baby as long as they are fed. 🤷🏻♀️
I’m sure I’ll get some heat for some of these or all of them. Maybe I’ll get some mature conversation though. Either way, hit me with your thoughts!
