As a mom, I’ve come across a few situations that just don’t sit right with me. Let me know if you can relate:
1. Strangers touching my kids
Look, I get it—kids are adorable. But why do some people think it’s okay to touch someone else’s child? A smile or a quick “hi” is fine, but keep your hands to yourself. Who are you, and why are your fingers anywhere near my baby?!
2. “You don’t need your mom”
When my son feels uncomfortable in a social setting and comes to me for comfort, the last thing I want to hear is, “You don’t need your mom!” Actually, he does. I’m his mom, and providing comfort is literally part of the job.
3. “When are you gonna start weaning?”
When she’s ready. That’s it. It’s her timeline, not anyone else’s business. Breastfeeding (or not) is a deeply personal decision, so why the unsolicited commentary?

my BIGGEST ick as an auntie is when people tell my niece “don’t tell your mom” when they give her something she isn’t suppose to have. i’ve told her since day one that safe adults do not ask children to keep secrets from their parents. i’ll tell my babies the same thing!
