I recently dropped a visit at Ambur Star Briyani at Little India! I thought to try out some new places and support the businesses too 🥹 👉👈
I ordered a Chicken 65 Biryani, Mutton Chukka and a lemon juice (forgot to include above). The hospitality was great and the food was served within a short while. It was quite empty as it was an early lunch on a weekday!
I love the feeling of getting served in a banana leaf at an indian restaurant 🥹❤️ The side dishes were Raita (yogurt with cucumber & onions), Brinjal and Bread Halwa.
The biryani was definitely on the spicer side, so the side dishes were complimenting the entire meal - especially the sweetness from the Halwa 😘 The Mutton Chukka reminded me of home, it was not as oily or vibrant in colour as other restaurants.
The entire experience was perfect for a lunch date, it was also quite affordable (total was about $30+)! No regrets but I will not go out of my way to have it. If you’re craving for spicy indian food with homely vibes, this is something for you ✨

Beyond just the chicken and mutton options, they offer various traditional accompaniments that enrich the overall meal.
The Mutton Chukka here reminds me of home-cooked meals — less oily and with a genuine, tender texture that’s satisfying without overwhelming richness. Also, dining on a banana leaf adds a traditional vibe that enhances the Indian dining experience.
For those curious about the menu, aside from the popular Chicken 65 Biryani, you might want to try their Ambur style biryani variants which bring an excellent balance of aromatic spices and vibrant flavors native to Tamil Nadu. The restaurant’s pricing is reasonable, making it a great choice for a filling lunch without overspending.
Ambur Star Briyani's location in Little India also means it’s easy to pair your meal with a walk around the culturally rich neighborhood. Whether you’re a local or a visitor seeking authentic South Indian biryani flavors in Singapore, this spot offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for casual dining or small lunch dates.
