私も子どもの頃に『眠れる森の美女』を見て、オーロラ姫の美しいドレスや静かな物語展開に夢中になった記憶があります。今回の金曜ロードショーで久しぶりに観直すと、確かに彼女は長い時間ほとんど寝ているだけで、行動的な場面が非常に少ないことに気づきました。 現代のディズニープリンセスは、自分の意志で行動し、時には戦ったり困難を乗り越えたりする強いキャラクターが多いですよね。例えば『塔の上のラプンツェル』のラプンツェルはアクロバティックで自ら冒険へ出かけますし、『桃太郎』的なヒロイン像も主人公としての成長や活躍が描かれています。 この違いを考えると、昔のディズニー映画は優美で夢見る少女の象徴としてのプリンセス像を大切にしており 、観る側もその世界観に浸ることを求められていたのだと感じます。逆に今は、多様な価値観や自立した女性像を描くことで、子どもたちや大人にも共感と刺激を与えているのだと思います。 私自身、オーロラ姫のようなシンプルで静かなヒロイン像も好きですが、今のアクティブで自主的なプリンセスたちの姿を見るのも刺激的で楽しいです。時代の流れとともに変化していくキャラクター像は、映画の楽しみ方やメッセージの多様化を表していると感じました。 また、昔と違いCG技術なども発達し、視覚的によりダイナミックな表現が可能になっているため、ヒロインたちの行動範囲や物語の広がりも大きくなっています。そんな中で、時に昔の作品を見返すことで、時代背景や価値観の違いに気づき、それを楽しむ視点もまた貴重だと感じました。
