Comes to Middle School, Kills Her and Mother Before Turning Gun on Himself
๐Steven Lee, 54, fatally shot his wife, Lincoln Middle School Assistant Principal Nerissa Lee, 46, and her mother before killing himself outside the Illinois school.
๐About 4 p.m. Tuesday, Berwyn police officers heard gunfire near Lincoln Middle School, at 6432 16th St., and responded to the scene as a school lockdown was issued. When they arrived, they saw a man firing a rifle into another vehicle. The officers came under fire from the suspect as they approached, police said, with officers taking cover and not returning fire.
๐"I mean itโs a horrible thing, you know I have a lot of emotions. I donโt quite know what to feel,โ Leeโs sister said.
๐She added that the domestic incident "didn't come out of the blue. It had started ever since, I want to say the tail end of June. And basically, the boiling point would have been Tuesday.โ
The third Thursday of October has now become nationally recognized as Purple Thursday where people nationwide are encouraged to wear purple to increase awareness for domestic violence.
