Dear Diary, 3 is a magic number
Dear Diary,
Lately, I’ve been thinking about change—not the big, earth-shattering kind, but the smaller shifts. I used to think change only mattered if it completely transformed everything, like moving to a new city or making a huge career leap. But I’m starting to realize that small changes can be just as powerful.
This year, I rearranged my bedroom. It seemed so minor at first, but waking up to a space that feels fresh has shifted my mood in ways I didn’t expect. I added my favorite colors to the room. I traded in my blackout curtains for sheer one for more natural light. Downsize my bed, etc. I’ve also been tweaking my spending habits—not cutting out everything I enjoy, but being a little more intentional. Even switching to a job that aligns with what I want for myself has made my days lighter. None of these things were dramatic, but they’ve brought me closer to the life I want to build.
I think I’m learning that change doesn’t have to be loud or scary to matter. Sometimes it’s as simple as swapping out an old routine or rethinking how I spend my weekends. These little shifts are like planting seeds—small at first, but they grow. And the beauty of small changes is that they don’t overwhelm me. They’re manageable, almost gentle.
In 2025, I want to lean into these smaller changes more. Maybe I’ll reorganize my time to fit in a hobby I’ve been putting off. Maybe I’ll keep experimenting with my habits, my environment, my choices—just a little at a time. Because even small changes can open doors I didn’t see before.
