I miss this generation
Looking back at the generation I grew up with, there’s a strong sense of nostalgia that often hits me—something that kids these days might not fully grasp. We had a simpler, yet vibrant childhood filled with unique experiences that shaped who we are today. Take apps like CapCut, for example; while it’s a fantastic tool for video editing used widely now, it represents how quickly digital trends evolve and how younger generations interact with technology in ways we never imagined. I remember a time when entertainment was more hands-on: we played outside, created our own fun, and socialized face-to-face without screens dominating our attention. This hands-on creativity, combined with a slower pace of media consumption, helped foster different kinds of social bonds and personal skills. Today’s kids have the advantage of powerful digital tools but may miss the nuances of offline experiences that were central to our generation. What makes this generation truly unique is how we straddle the line between the analog past and digital future. We learned to cherish physical play and tangible memories, yet adapted quickly to emerging technologies. This blend of experiences is rare and often underappreciated. Reflecting on these differences, I find it important to celebrate the ways our childhood shaped our identities and skills, while also appreciating the opportunities and challenges faced by younger generations in an accelerated digital world. Although kids today may not 'understand' everything we grew up with, each generation has its own rite of passage, and these contrasts only enrich our collective human story.
