Letters to Lovers
Sometimes I wish I could count the rain in drops. Caught in a peaceful eternity. I would gently lay myself down in silence. Either in a field of wildflowers caught between two rising mountains or just at the breach of the crashing waves on beach with no one else around. As the first drop broke against my cheek blending into my own tears I would began to count. One. I could let myself stay lost here stuck with my own delusions. Two. I could daydream of a world where no one felt at war within themselves. Three. I could fathom a love so utterly consuming time itself stopped to take in moment our lifelines finally met. Four. I could craft a list of every “what if” that had yet to come to life. Five. I could spend a few hours questioning the unknowns of the universe. At some point I’d loose count becoming bounded to the spot I choose to lay. Slowly becoming one with my maker. The ocean would gently erode away an any trace of my existence and the spring flowers would turn my mortal body into their garden bed. Roots would replace my veins and every cell would soon become a seedling to new life.
These wishes are sadly just minor pieces of my daydreams. So instead when it rains I flee to the warmth of the indoors counting the minutes until I’m met with clear sky’s.
