I needed to rant
From personal experience, I've found that holding back frustration can sometimes lead to an overwhelming feeling when it finally surfaces. It's a common scenario to feel misunderstood as the 'villain' after standing up for yourself, especially when the issues have been brewing for months or years. Setting boundaries is crucial, yet it often brings a wave of guilt or second-guessing, as we worry about damaging relationships with close friends or family. However, recognizing the signs of repeated disrespect helps us identify when to speak up before emotions explode unintentionally. I've learned that addressing hurt feelings calmly and early can sometimes prevent the buildup of resentment. Still, in situations where the other party continuously disrespects you, choosing to cut off these negative influences is a healthy, although difficult, decision. It’s important to remember that self-respect and mental health come first, even if it means being perceived as the 'bad guy.' Sharing these experiences openly can be healing, reminding others that they're not alone in the emotional complexity of managing toxic relationships and the fear of being misunderstood when reclaiming their peace.
