Day 22 of being unemployed

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying myself every day over these past 22 days. I expected to feel anxious, nervous, or sad, but instead, I’ve been genuinely happy - provided I don’t look at my account balance.

During this time, I’ve been attending back-to-back interviews, which was exhausting at times. I also started a swimming class to learn freestyle, went for morning walks at the Botanic Gardens, did some marketing work with my mum, and completed the IHRP certification. On top of that, I’ve been able to spend more quality time with my children and family, which I truly cherish.

Today, I went for a fitness and health assessment at ActiveSG. Wow—time to focus on improving my weight and building muscle! All my scores are 🙀🙀🙀.

... Read moreBeing unemployed for 22 days has been a surprisingly positive experience for me. While many expect this period to be filled with stress and uncertainty, I found that focusing on personal growth and daily routines has made a big difference. For example, attending multiple interviews helped me build resilience, and the physical exercise through swimming lessons and fitness assessments has motivated me to take better care of my body. Making time for family has been another valuable aspect of this break. Sharing meaningful moments with my children and loved ones has reminded me of what truly matters, bringing comfort and joy despite financial concerns. I also took the opportunity to pursue certification at the Institute for Human Resource Professionals, which has given me a fresh professional perspective and confidence for future roles. If you’re facing unemployment, I recommend embracing holistic activities—whether it’s learning something new, getting active, or simply spending quality time with people you care about. It’s also important to acknowledge financial worries but not let them overshadow your mental well-being. This approach has helped me stay motivated and positive during these uncertain days.

Maternity Benefit for the unemployed*
As long as you were employed for a min of 3months within a year prior to your child’s birth , you will get a lil bit of cash support from the government. It was a very quick procedure so long as you have all proper documents. I would ask you to prepare all your relevant payslips for submission

No one prepares you for the job search after uni. I thought once I had my degree, the interviews would come flooding in... but nothing happened for weeks. I was starting to get worried, especially when some of my seniors who graduated a semester earlier were still JOBLESS. I studied Psycholog

Gratitude doesn’t erase the struggles, but it softens the weight of them. 🤍✨
A gentle reminder to pause and notice the blessings we’ve grown used to 🌷🦦 Even on hard days, there is still something to be thankful for a home, a smile, a chance to keep going.

Trying to stay sane while unemployed is basically
lately, i’ve been realising that healing after unemployment isn’t always about doing something “big.” sometimes it’s just: small routines, small comforts, small distractions, and small moments that make the day feel softer. when i first got laid off, i thought my days would mainly revolve
