A Love Note To My Bride!

I don’t say this enough… but I’m gonna say it right now.

I love my bride more than words can ever explain.

She’s stood by me through the storms… the setbacks… the battles nobody ever saw.

Through the blindness, the PTSD, the struggles… she never flinched.

She stayed. She fought WITH me, not against me.

And here’s something I’ve learned the hard way…

Love isn’t about giving your version of love.

It’s about learning THEIR language.

Because what makes you feel loved… might not be what makes THEM feel loved.

You can be showing up every single day… thinking you’re doing everything right…

But if you’re not speaking their love language… they might still feel alone.

That hit me hard.

So now I ask myself…

“Am I loving her the way SHE needs… or the way that’s easiest for me?”

Big difference.

Fellas… ladies… listen up:

If you want a strong marriage, a real connection, a ride-or-die relationship…

Stop assuming.

Start learning.

Start listening.

Start loving them the way THEY receive it.

Because when you get that right…

Everything changes.

To my bride…

Thank you for loving a man who wasn’t always easy to love.

I see you.

I appreciate you.

I’m grateful for you every single day.

I love you. Always. ❤️

... Read moreNavigating a relationship while facing unique challenges like PTSD, blindness, or emotional battles can be overwhelming, but it also deepens the understanding of genuine love and commitment. From my own experience, I’ve found that the key to sustaining a strong bond isn’t just showing love in the way I perceive it but truly learning how my partner experiences love. It reminded me of the quote, "Don't love them the way YOU want to be loved... Love them the way THEY feel it," which perfectly encapsulates this realization. At first, I thought consistent presence and support were enough, but my spouse sometimes seemed distant despite my efforts. That’s when I started exploring the concept of love languages — words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service, and physical touch. By tuning into which of these resonated most with her, our connection deepened remarkably. For example, simple acts like helping with daily tasks or verbal encouragement meant more than grand gestures or gifts. It taught me patience and attentiveness, which are crucial when your partner is battling invisible wounds like PTSD. She stayed by me through battles unseen, and realizing how she felt loved helped me reciprocate effectively. I encourage anyone in a marriage or committed relationship to pause and reflect: Are you loving your partner according to their needs or your comfort zone? Learning their love language is a continuous journey — it involves listening, observing, and adapting. It fosters trust, reduces feelings of loneliness, and strengthens the ride-or-die bond many seek. Embracing this approach changed everything for us. It turned struggles into shared victories and reinforced gratitude for each other’s unique love expressions. To anyone reading this navigating complex emotions or challenges, remember that love grows deeper when it speaks your partner's language. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.
