At least no Gen Zee stare👁️... yet.
Working with Gen Z can be quite an experience, especially if you're from a different generation. One thing I've noticed is that Gen Z often has a distinct way of expressing themselves, whether through digital communication or body language, like the infamous 'Gen Zee stare.' It's important to recognize that this stare often isn't negative; it can be a sign of deep focus or simply their way of processing information. In my experience, adapting to these new workplace dynamics has involved embracing open conversations about communication preferences. Many Gen Z colleagues prefer quick, direct messaging over lengthy emails and appreciate visual content or emojis to convey tone, which can feel different if you're used to more traditional methods. Understanding their perspectives on work-life balance and valuing flexibility has also helped build mutual respect. I've found that creating spaces like casual 'Well Bred Club' discussions or informal team gatherings—mirroring the sense of community—encourages engagement and bridges generational gaps. Ultimately, accepting and learning from Gen Z's unique traits can improve teamwork and productivity. It's all about patience, openness, and sometimes accepting a new kind of stare as part of the collaborative process.
