Happy Spirit Moon! January 2026
As we gather under the Spirit Moon, a time to slow down, stay warm, and dream well, we are reminded of the teachings of the great spirits of the forest. Like the animals that prepare for winter, seeking shelter and hibernation, we too must find our calm amidst the chill.
In the depths of winter, many creatures, such as woodchucks, bears, and bats, retreat into the Warmth of their caves and burrows, a practice known as hibernation. This instinctual behavior teaches us the importance of Rest and Reflection. Just as these animals pause their busy lives to
Conserve energy, we are encouraged to take a moment to reflect on our own journeys and the stories that have shaped us.
The great spirits remind us that survival through the harsh winters is not just about physical endurance but also about the Wisdom passed down through generations. They are our first teachers, instill in us the values of Patience, Resilience, and Respect for nature and each other.
In the Bible, we find a parallel in the call to Rest and Rejuvenate. In Matthew 11:28, Yeshua/Jesus invites us to come to Him for rest: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” This invitation echoes the essence of the Spirit Moon, highlighting the importance of finding solace and strength in our Faith and in our relationship with the natural world; Yehoshua Created.
Under this Full Moon, let us honor those teachings, share our Ancient stories, and remember the Connections that bind us to the land and its many Creatures. May we find comfort in their lessons and carry their Wisdom into the coming days.
