Is anyone else sad the weekend goes by way to fast?
I've often found myself frustrated that weekends seem to vanish almost instantly, leaving me wishing for just a few more hours. It's a common feeling shared by many who crave a brief escape from the busy workweek. One reason weekends seem to fly by is simply because we often pack them with so many activities—social events, chores, errands, hobbies—that there’s little time to slow down and savor the moments. The contrast between the structured workweek and the freeform weekend can make time perception different, making it feel like the weekend is shorter than it actually is. To truly enjoy the weekend, I’ve started dedicating time to relax without schedules, such as reading, taking nature walks, or simply disconnecting from digital devices. This helps me feel more present and extends the enjoyment I get from those precious days. Also, the weekend can psychologically feel shorter because it marks both a break from work and a prelude to it. This anticipation of Monday often drains the weekend's mental space. Planning meaningful and restful activities early on can shift this perspective. In summary, while weekends may always feel too short, we can influence how fulfilling they are by pacing ourselves and focusing on quality experiences rather than quantity. This mindset has helped me cherish weekends more deeply and reduce that weekend-ends-too-soon feeling.
