I acknowledge Black History as OUR History, sadly there are people out there who would like to erase the accomplishments that People of Colour have contributed to our society. #BlackHistoryMonth

2/2 Edited to

... Read moreDuring Black History Month, it’s vital to reflect on how the achievements of Black individuals have shaped many aspects of culture, science, politics, and everyday life that we often take for granted. From the pioneering work of inventors like George Washington Carver to the heroic efforts of civil rights leaders like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr., these contributions are foundational to our shared history. Unfortunately, there are forces that try to minimize or erase these accomplishments, which can lead to misunderstandings and a lack of appreciation for diversity’s role in progress. From my personal experience, educating myself about these stories has deepened my respect for the resilience and creativity of People of Colour. It’s empowering to see how Black history is not isolated but interwoven with the narrative of all people. Embracing Black History as OUR History means actively including it in education, conversations, and celebrations throughout the year—not just during February. It’s about recognizing that our collective identity is enriched by these stories and that standing against attempts to erase them is a responsibility we all share. This month, consider reading biographies, supporting Black-owned businesses, or joining community events to honor this indispensable history. The word "FEED" reminds me of the importance of feeding our minds with knowledge and our communities with awareness and appreciation. By acknowledging Black History as part of our cultural "feed," we ensure this vital legacy continues to inspire future generations.
