30 things I wish I knew before 30.

I swear my lemon8 will not be centered around how I’m no longer in my 20s. However, recently I’ve noticed a change in me. In a previous post I mentioned how I would no longer take mediocrity in my romantic relationships. But I have to say across the board I’m in a stage where I don’t want mediocrity from any aspect of my life and I’m grateful for all the lessons I’ve learned and I don’t mind spreading the love. I saw the @ labeautyologist do this on IG and I thought it was cute idea.

All of these little lessons are personal to me and my experiences. So in other words, if it don’t apply let it fly!

1. It’s okay to push back

2. It’s okay to be sensitive

3. Don’t think about how it’ll affect others, think about how it’ll affect you.

4. If it sounds stupid, it most likely is.

5. Know the difference between laughing with you and laughing at you.

6. If something seems confusing to you … it’s probably confusing to someone else so ask for help or clarity.

7. You can’t fix your parent’s problems.

8. For my church girlies - everyone isn’t as perfect as they seem.

9. Talk to your partner about the type of sex you want/ like. - don’t just settle for jack hammering.

10. Go to the doctor.

11. If it feels off then trust your gut.

12. Don’t wait for things to get better… there’s a chance it won’t.

13. You don’t have to be the fun friend all the time.

14. You’re going to change over time, your friends are going to accept it or fight it.

15. Rewatch boy meets world… it’s not as endearing as you think…

16. You feel the most inspired when you are the most comfortable, in other words being a starving artist is overrated.

17. Until others see value from it there will be people who will second guess you.

18. Walk away from that degree or that job if it’s not serving you.

19. It does not make you stronger to stay in a bad situation. Period.

20. It’s okay if you want to know why but sometimes they might not even have a reason.

21. If your “friend” is treating you poorly, call them on their bullshit.

22. You don’t have to do anything - when you say no it’s no.

23. It’s not your job to make sure other people are okay and comfortable- read that 100x.

24. If I’ve forgiven them then I should be able to move forward, whether that is with them or without them.

25. No one can take away your culture from you.

26. There is maturity in knowing that you don’t have to try and get with everyone you find attractive.

27. If you haven’t thought about it all season then you have it for no reason.

28. It’s okay to have lazy days

29. Keep your kindness - people will try to make you feel like your kindness is weakness, never be afraid to challenge their behavior.

30. There will be a day where you’ll look at your self in the mirror and love everything about you. - when that day comes you’ll be unstoppable.

... Read moreTurning 30 can be a pivotal moment in life, prompting reflections on experiences and lessons learned. Each lesson shared can resonate differently with individuals based on their unique journeys. For many, embracing change and letting go of toxic relationships becomes essential for personal growth. Understanding the importance of self-care and mental health can significantly impact how one navigates the complexities of adult life. It's also beneficial to surround oneself with a supportive community that encourages positivity and growth. In addition, many find that setting boundaries, whether in friendships or professional realms, is crucial for maintaining mental well-being. As we transition into a new decade, remember that the journey of self-discovery is ongoing. Embracing every change, however challenging, can lead to valuable insights and a more profound appreciation for oneself. At 30, it’s not just about age; it’s about the wisdom gained through lived experiences and the courage to pursue one’s true path.
