How to stay active this summer!

Being “active” isn’t just physical, it could mean doing the smallest things to fill up your day. Small progress to productivity!

Here’s a few ways to stay “active” this summer that don’t require you going anywhere or spending money.

They are small ways I have created habits in my routine for my day to day. And they are habits that I look forward to when I wake up.

So don’t let this summer stay within the walls of your bedroom, enjoy the small things this summer !

In fact, some of the best ways to keep moving and energized are simple habits that seamlessly fit into your day. For example, incorporating a mix of yoga and pilates with a core workout can be a great way to engage your muscles without needing a gym. I personally find that dedicating even 15-20 minutes daily to these exercises significantly improves my mood and energy levels. Another habit that’s easy to maintain is taking regular walks, especially if you have a pet like a dog. Walking twice a day, perhaps a sensory walk in the morning where you consciously listen to the environment, and an evening walk with your favorite podcast or music, not only keeps you active but also gives you some much-needed 'me time' to recharge. Something many overlook is how cleaning your living space can be a physical activity in itself. Breaking the cleaning into small bits here and there keeps you moving without feeling overwhelmed. Plus, turning it into a mini dance party with your favorite music makes it fun and uplifting. Summer is also a perfect time to indulge in reading, which enriches your mind while you relax in the sun or during commutes. I’ve found that carrying a book or using an e-reader whenever there’s free time helps me catch up on leisure reading that was missed during busy school or work months. What all these activities have in common is that they don’t require spending money or going far from home, making them accessible to anyone. More importantly, they turn staying active into a series of small, enjoyable habits rather than a chore. This not only improves physical health but also contributes to mental well-being, making your summer fulfilling and productive. Give these routines a try, and you might find yourself looking forward to your active days just like I do!
