Deep Dish Pepperoni Pizza
Lazy meal, boy dinner, set it and forget it...whatever you wanna call this toaster oven pepperoni deep dish 😆
In another attempt at clearing out my freezer of leftovers, I made a pizza 😂 cast iron pan rubbed with bacon fat then sprinkled with parm for the outside of the crust with layers of pepperoni, sauce, and cheese on the inside...into the toaster oven at 420° until you smell it from the couch so you know it's done 🤣
Making a deep dish pepperoni pizza in a toaster oven is a fantastic way to enjoy a hearty meal without much fuss. From my experience, using a cast iron pan not only helps achieve a crispy, golden crust but also evenly cooks the pizza, enhancing the flavors inside. Rubbing the pan with bacon fat before sprinkling parmesan cheese around the edges creates an irresistible aroma and adds a subtle smoky richness to the crust. When assembling the pizza, layering is key. Start with a base of sauce, then generously add pepperoni and finish with plenty of cheese, making sure it's evenly distributed for that perfect melt and savory bite. Baking at 420 degrees Fahrenheit in a toaster oven ensures the pizza cooks through without drying out, and the smell is often the best indicator that it's ready—when you can smell it from the couch, it's time to check. This method is especially useful when you want to use up freezer leftovers creatively and avoid heating up a full oven. Plus, it's perfect for a laid-back, one-pan meal that can please picky eaters or satisfy a quick craving. Don't forget to experiment with different cheeses or additional toppings like mushrooms or peppers to personalize your deep dish pizza. Overall, this approach strikes a great balance between convenience, flavor, and fun in making homemade pizza.
