Mom & daughter Bible study
My mom finally said yes to a Bible study after weeks of begging lol.
Day 14 of not caring what people think.
Day 13 is posted on my tiktok ( mayalashay_ )
It's been an incredible journey already, even just getting to this point! For weeks, I'd been praying and gently suggesting the idea of a Bible study w/ my mom, and when she finally said yes, my heart just soared. This isn't just about reading a book together; it’s about deepening our spiritual connection, learning from God’s Word side-by-side, and frankly, strengthening our unique mom-daughter bond in a way nothing else can. Starting a mom-daughter Bible study has been something I’ve dreamed of for a long time. There's something truly special about sharing your faith journey with the person who raised you. We're going to dive into the scriptures together, pray for each other, and discuss how God's ancient wisdom applies to our modern lives. It’s a space where we can be vulnerable, ask tough questions, and grow together in understanding and grace. I believe this shared spiritual pursuit will not only enrich our individual walks with Christ but also create a legacy of faith that transcends generations. For anyone else considering starting a Bible study w/ your mom (or any family member!), here are a few things I’ve learned or am planning to implement to make it a meaningful experience: Picking the Right Study Material: This is crucial! With so many resources out there, it can feel overwhelming. We're looking for something that is biblically sound, engaging, and relevant to both our lives. It’s important to find a study that helps you dig into the actual scripture, rather than just someone’s interpretation. We want to ensure we're building our faith on solid ground, truly understanding God's word for ourselves. Always pray for discernment and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to resources that uphold truth and build up your faith. Finding Your Rhythm: Life is busy, right? My mom and I are talking about setting a consistent time each week that works for both our schedules. Whether it's a quick chat over coffee or a dedicated hour in the evening, consistency is key. Even if it's just 30 minutes, showing up regularly solidifies the commitment. Making it Interactive: We plan to ask each other open-ended questions, share personal reflections, and pray for each other based on what we've learned. It's not about being perfect or having all the answers; it's about honest conversation and mutual encouragement. Embracing 'Unfiltered' Moments: Just like my "Day 14 of not caring what people think" journey, this Bible study is about being authentic. There will be days we feel inspired, and days we might struggle with understanding or application. It's okay to bring all of that to the table. This is a safe space for growth, not judgment. This journey is also a powerful reminder of why it’s so important to ground ourselves in truth. In a world full of noise and conflicting messages, having a trusted source like the Bible, and a trusted companion like my mom, helps us navigate spiritual paths with confidence. It empowers us to discern truth from error and build a faith that is resilient. This shared experience is teaching me to stand firm in my beliefs, regardless of external opinions or what society might dictate. It's about focusing on what truly matters and drawing closer to God, together. I'm so excited for what’s ahead with my mom. If you’re on the fence about starting a spiritual journey with a loved one, I wholeheartedly encourage you to take that leap of faith. It’s truly a blessing to share your deepest beliefs and grow together.
