It comes and goes in waves 🫶🏻🖤

I’ve been processing more than just her loss. She was my last living grandparent, and not being able to make it to any of their funerals, because they were all in Mexico and I was pregnant or have anyone be able to help with the kids, has hit harder than I thought.

It’s like losing the last thread to my childhood, my roots… and suddenly, home doesn’t feel like “home” anymore.

This season is heavy, and I know many of us are quietly carrying a lot. So if you’ve been feeling the weight of life lately too, just know you’re not alone.

We can hold the grief, the memories, the joy, and still show up for the life we’re building.

... Read moreGrief is a complex emotion that many individuals face throughout their lives, often triggered by the loss of significant relationships. It can feel especially heavy during poignant moments or milestones that remind us of those we’ve lost. Navigating through these layers of emotions, such as sorrow for the loss of a grandparent, can evoke feelings of nostalgia and longing for the past. It’s common for individuals to reflect on their childhood memories and connections to their roots during such times, as these aspects shape our identity and sense of home. In recent years, discussions on mental health and wellbeing have opened up conversations about the importance of processing grief and finding ways to cope effectively. Many people experience grief collectively, where community support plays a vital role in healing. Whether through shared stories, collective remembrance, or simple acts of kindness, finding a supportive network can significantly lessen the weight of one’s grief. Many mindfulness practices recommend acknowledging both the joy and sorrow that accompanies loss, allowing us to embrace our full range of emotions. Additionally, creating routines that incorporate moments of reflection and remembrance can help in navigating the day-to-day challenges of grief. Whether it’s through journaling, participating in memorial activities, or even simple ceremonies, these acts serve as reminders that we can honor our loved ones while still moving forward with our lives. The journey through grief can feel isolating, but understanding that others share this experience can provide comfort and strength. Engagement in communities or forums focused on grief can foster connections with others who understand the nuances of such emotional journeys, reinforcing the idea that no one has to bear this burden alone.
