One practice that truly helped was earning my dopamine through effort and achievement before allowing myself any dopamine expenditure like scrolling. For example, I started exercising or completing a task first thing in the morning. This helped train my brain to associate hard work with reward and built momentum for the rest of the day. It really felt empowering. Another tip that made a noticeable difference was deliberately creating 'dopamine debt'—reducing baseline stimulation by going for walks without any digital input, having meals without screens, or starting cold mornings without checking my phone. These moments of temporary discomfort increased my natural dopamine production and gave me mental clarity I hadn’t experienced before. I also limited my 'cheap dopamine' consumption by using apps designed to restrict scrolling time and making myself complete growth-promoting activities before resuming any digital distraction. This approach turned the dopamine crumbs from endless scrolling into motivation for real growth. Ultimately, dopamine maxxing isn't about feeling good all the time but about preserving and redirecting your motivation to what truly matters. It’s a shift from exhaustion caused by overconsumption of digital stimuli toward an energized, purposeful life. If you feel like your ambition has disappeared, it likely hasn’t—it’s just been misdirected, and dopamine maxxing can help you reclaim it.
