How long does a root canal and crown last?

Hello, I am in the proceure of having a root canal and crown, the root canal part is over. originally the dentist said after the root canal the tooth should be able to last 10 years with a crown. But today the dentist told me, once the crown is on the tooth is so unstable it will only last 5 years. I have had another root cannal with no issues for 15 years and know people with root canals and have had no issues for over 10 years.

Generally, a root canal combined with a crown can last anywhere from 5 to 15 years. Factors such as oral hygiene, the location of the treated tooth, and how well the crown fits can significantly influence longevity. Many dental professionals suggest maintaining regular check-ups and practicing good oral hygiene to maximize the lifespan of both the root canal and crown. It's also essential to be aware of any unusual symptoms such as pain or swelling, which could indicate complications that might shorten their lifespan. If you're considering a root canal or crown or have recently had one, understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions about your dental health.

I only have 2 crowns so far, and they’ve both lasted 13+ years. I have to have one replaced soon because there’s a cavity underneath.
