Study Methods That Got Me an A in A&P 🤓

When I took anatomy and physiology as part of my nursing school prerequisites, I was able to get an A by using these study techniques. Though anatomy and physiology is not an easy course, there are ways to make it more understandable.

1) Use diagrams: Diagrams are so important when studying for anatomy and physiology. This is especially true for visual learners like myself. Practice labeling each structure and their function(s) several times a day. If you can successfully label everything without needing to look at your notes, you've mastered it.

2) Use online resources: During lecture, it is very easy to get confused with all the information being taught. I found YouTube channels like RegisteredNurseRN to be super helpful when I needed additional clarification. She has many videos explaining the anatomy and physiology of several organs. I highly recommend taking notes while watching these videos to help with memorization.

Engaging with these videos while taking notes reinforces learning and aids in memorization. Furthermore, exploring interactive websites and apps dedicated to A&P can enhance understanding through quizzes and flashcards. Studying in groups can also be advantageous. Discussing topics with peers allows for diverse insights and varying explanations, which may lead to a deeper understanding of the material. Regularly scheduled study sessions can keep the material fresh and assist in forming study groups, leading to a supportive learning environment as you all prepare for exams. Lastly, incorporating clinical applications into your study routine can further enhance retention. Relating anatomical knowledge to patient cases or real-world scenarios can solidify comprehension, as understanding the practical implications of A&P makes the content more engaging and relevant.
