I tried all sorts of topical treatments, but true nail strength, I've learned, really comes from within. Many of us overlook how much our diet impacts our nails, often focusing only on skin and hair, but they're all interconnected in showing our internal health. That's where this amazing smoothie comes in. While the original recipe is fantastic with its collagen power, I've also experimented with a few additions to really supercharge my nail health, and I wanted to share those with you! For instance, adding a handful of spinach or kale to your smoothie is a game-changer. These leafy greens are packed not only with biotin, a B vitamin known for strengthening nails and promoting growth, but also with iron. Iron deficiency can often lead to brittle or ridged nails, so boosting your intake naturally through your smoothie can make a significant difference. You barely taste the greens, especially with the sweetness of the bananas and strawberries! Another secret ingredient I often toss in is a tablespoon of chia seeds or flax seeds. These tiny powerhouses provide essential omega-3 fatty acids, which are crucial for nail hydration, preventing brittleness, and maintaining overall nail plate integrity.
