Daniel Fast 21 Days no Meat or Dairy 🥵

I have to say doing this fast is one of the toughest things I’ve ever done in my life! But for my new year resolution I wanted to practice self discipline, eating healthier and most importantly get closer to God!

My friend presented this fast to me and starting seemed easy! But finding a meal that’s enjoyable and filling is kind of the hard part lol I do enjoy beans a lot so that’s cool I’m scared to get into the meal substitutes plus I don’t like mushrooms!

But let me tell you, figuring out what to eat for 21 days without meat or dairy was a real challenge, especially when you’re used to certain comfort foods! I saw a lot of you searching for 'Daniel Fast foods vegetables fruits grains' and 'Daniel Fast meal lists,' and I totally get it. It's not just about what you can't eat, but what amazing nutritious things you can enjoy! My biggest struggle initially was finding meals that felt truly satisfying. I kept thinking, "How can I make this last 21 days without getting bored?" That's when I really dove deep into exploring the allowed foods. Think vibrant vegetables of all kinds – leafy greens, bell peppers, onions, okra, and so much more. Fruits are your best friend for snacks and natural sweetness; I loved having a whole banana with my oatmeal in the mornings, or fresh grapes. For grains, it's all about whole grains. Brown rice became a staple for me, and I learned to get creative with it. Instead of just plain rice, I'd mix in black-eyed peas, sautéed onions, and those delicious green bell peppers. It felt like a proper meal! And speaking of beans and legumes, they are your protein powerhouse on this fast. Pinto beans, black beans, lentils – they’re incredibly versatile and filling. Don't be afraid to experiment with different seasonings to keep things exciting. I know some of you might be like me and aren't keen on mushrooms or are wary of meal substitutes. And that's totally fine! You don't need them to have a fulfilling Daniel Fast. For instance, I discovered you can make amazing plant-based meals without relying on mushroom-based alternatives. Instead of worrying about mock meats, I focused on making hearty bowls with a base of brown rice, a generous serving of beans, and a medley of colorful roasted vegetables. The OCR results for my article even showed a delicious-looking plate with dark green leafy vegetables, black-eyed peas, and light brown rice – that’s exactly the kind of satisfying meal I learned to love! Breakfasts can be simple and delicious too. A bowl of oatmeal with sliced bananas and a sprinkle of nuts (also allowed!) is a fantastic start. I also saw a digital planner example that included a banana berry smoothie – perfect for when you're short on time but want something substantial. And for those moments when you just crave something familiar, did you know there are amazing dairy-free options out there? I even found frozen vegan pizzas, like the Daiya Cheese Lover's Vegan Pizza I saw in one of my photos, which can be a lifesaver on a busy night. Just check the ingredients to ensure they meet Daniel Fast guidelines (no sugar, no yeast, etc.). The key is planning. Looking at a 21-day Daniel Fast prayer guide or a simple meal plan can really help. Don't be afraid to try new recipes. This journey is about self-discipline and nourishing your body while getting closer to God, but it doesn't mean your meals have to be bland.
