Must read if you’re studying to be a pilot ✨
The PHAK is a book I got in my pilot bag kit when I bought it from my college. At first I left it in its shelf thinking it would be useless but I was wrong. This book is very important and I wish I had started reading it sooner. This book will help you understand how planes work and much more. It’s even free online so you can read it online or print it out and just begin studying it either before you go to college, during college, to review, or before you start your training at a local flight school. I’ve put a few picture of the chapters I consider important of course the whole book is important but this is just what works for me.
I’m also making a shortened version of the book with everything I’ve needed to know and study so far I would love to share it with people once I’m done with it. And there’s another book the Aviation Weather Handbook which is also free online and it’s really helpful on understanding weather and the resources we use to get weather.
The Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge (PHAK) is a fundamental resource for every aspiring pilot. This comprehensive guide covers various essential topics such as aerodynamics, aircraft systems, navigation, and weather principles that a pilot must understand. Features of the book include detailed explanations of fundamental flight concepts, aircraft performance, and safety protocols. It is structured to help both novice and experienced pilots improve their knowledge base and decision-making skills in aviation contexts. In addition to PHAK, the Aviation Weather Handbook is another excellent resource that is also available for free online. Understanding weather principles is critical for pilots, as it directly impacts flight safety and operational decision-making. The handbook provides detailed information about interpreting weather reports, forecasts, and the various factors that influence flying conditions. The inclusion of real-world examples and illustrations in both handbooks makes the information accessible and practical. By utilizing these resources early in your pilot training, you can build a solid foundation that will be invaluable throughout your flying career. Make sure to also take advantage of online courses and communities where fellow aviation enthusiasts share insights and study tips. These additional resources can significantly enhance your learning experience and provide support as you embark on your journey to becoming a pilot.
