When you hear people refer to 𝐓𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐦 9/10 they are speaking of 𝐓𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐦 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡.

𝟏. Did you know it’s about a 2-hour drive from Cancun airport to Tulum beach? If you’re landing at Cancun airport and heading to Tulum Beach, get ready for a vibe-filled road trip! The distance is about 90 minutes to 2 hours by car, depending on traffic and your exact destination in Tulum.

𝟐. Tulum’s internet game can be a bit spotty. however, most hotels/resorts and restaurants offer free wifi for you to stay connected.

𝟑. Depending on which end of the strip you stay, many bars/restaurants/shops are within walking distance. Trust me, you don’t wanna deal with the crazy traffic and limited parking in Tulum. Opt for bikes or taxis if needed.

𝟒. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or just love plant-based options, Tulum has got you covered!

𝟓. If you’re thinking of bringing your professional camera to Tulum, be prepared to pay a bit extra. Some spots might charge you a little extra for the privilege of capturing those epic shots.

All in all, I absolutely love Tulum and enjoy myself each & every time.

... Read moreWhen I first started planning my trips to Tulum, I realized there's so much more to know than just booking a flight and a hotel. After a few visits, I've gathered some truly essential tips that I wish I knew beforehand, especially since a lot of people refer to Tulum as just “Tulum Beach.” First off, let's talk about the journey from the airport. Like the article mentioned, *Tulum is about 2 hours away from Cancun Airport*. This distance can be a bit of a surprise if you're expecting a quick hop. From my experience, you have a few options: private shuttles offer convenience but can be pricey. Shared shuttles are a good middle ground. I’ve also taken the ADO bus, which is super budget-friendly and comfortable, but it makes several stops and can take a bit longer. Just remember to factor in that travel time when planning your arrival and departure! Next, staying connected. The article briefly touched on it, and I can confirm, the internet can be sparse in Tulum. It's not like a major city where you can count on strong Wi-Fi everywhere. While *most hotels and business's offer free Wi-Fi*, it might not always be reliable enough for heavy streaming or work calls. What I usually do is get an eSIM for my phone before I arrive. This way, I have consistent data for navigation and staying in touch, even when I'm out exploring beyond my accommodation. It's a lifesaver for looking up directions to that hidden cenote or finding a restaurant without relying solely on hotel Wi-Fi. Getting around Tulum itself is another key piece of advice. The original article wisely suggested avoiding driving, and I wholeheartedly agree: avoid renting a car if you can, especially if you're staying primarily on the beach strip. The traffic can be intense, parking is incredibly limited and often expensive. Bikes are my go-to for cruising the beach road and nearby areas; it’s a fun way to explore and soak in the vibe. For longer distances or late nights, taxis are available, but always negotiate your fare before you get in. I learned that lesson after a few surprisingly high taxi bills! For my fellow foodies, you're in for a treat! Vegan and vegetarian options are everywhere in Tulum, which is fantastic. Beyond the trendy, Instagrammable spots, make sure to seek out the local taquerias and eateries. That’s where you’ll find the most authentic and delicious (and often cheapest!) Mexican food. Don't be afraid to try street food – some of my best meals have come from humble stalls. Just look for places with a steady line of locals! Finally, for those who love capturing memories with a professional camera, be prepared. The article warned that bringing a professional camera will cost you at certain archaeological sites or cenotes. I've personally encountered this; some places have specific rules and fees for professional equipment or even just larger cameras. It’s always a good idea to check their policies online beforehand if you plan a serious photoshoot. Sometimes, a high-quality smartphone camera is all you need to get stunning shots without the extra hassle or cost, allowing you to focus more on enjoying the moment. Beyond these, remember to bring plenty of cash (Mexican Pesos are preferred for many smaller vendors and tips), use reef-safe sunscreen to protect the delicate marine environment, and stay hydrated! Tulum is a magical place, and with these extra tips, I hope your trip will be even more amazing than mine have been!
