Christmas Brownie Magic ✨🍫🎄
If you needed a sign to make the cutest holiday dessert ever… THIS IS IT. These Christmas tree + Santa hat brownies are officially my new obsession 😍🎅💚
🍫 Brownie Ingredients
• 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
• 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
• ⅓ cup (35g) cocoa powder
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ½ teaspoon baking powder
• ½ cup (113g) melted unsalted butter
• 2 large eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• ¼ cup (60ml) milk
🧁 Buttercream Frosting Ingredients
For white frosting:
• 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
• 3 cups (360g) powdered sugar
• 2 tbsp heavy cream or milk
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
For colored frosting:
• Red gel food coloring
• Green gel food coloring
• White sprinkles or nonpareils
🎄 Directions
1️⃣ Make the Brownies
•Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line an 8x8 pan with parchment paper. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. In another bowl, whisk melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and milk. Combine wet + dry ingredients. Mix until just combined — do NOT overmix. Spread into your pan and bake 22–26 minutes or until the center is set. Let cool completely, then chill for 30 minutes for cleaner cuts. Cut into triangles (like a pizza → then divide slices in half).
2️⃣ Make the Buttercream
•Beat butter until smooth and fluffy (2–3 minutes). Add powdered sugar slowly while mixing. Add cream + vanilla and whip until light and fluffy. Divide frosting:
• Red frosting → add red gel food coloring
• Green frosting → add green gel food coloring
• White frosting → leave plain
3️⃣ Decorate (the fun part!)
🎅 Santa Hat Brownies:
• Pipe red frosting in stacked curves to form the hat
• Pipe white frosting along the bottom edge
• Add a white “pom pom” on top
• Sprinkle with red sanding sugar (optional)
🎄 Christmas Tree Brownies:
• Pipe green frosting in loops or zig-zags
• Add white sprinkles to look like snow
• Add a small white dot on top for the “star”
If you’re planning to make holiday desserts this season, these Christmas tree and Santa hat brownies offer a fun and creative way to impress family and friends. The recipe features a best fudgy brownie base, which is key to achieving that perfect moist and rich texture. Using simple ingredients like cocoa powder, unsalted butter, and vanilla, this brownie recipe is beginner-friendly yet yields professional-tasting results. One important tip for flawless brownies is not to overmix the batter, as this helps keep the texture dense and chewy rather than cakey. After baking, chilling the brownies before cutting allows for cleaner slices, especially when shaping them into festive triangles for decorating. The homemade buttercream frosting here serves as both a delicious topping and a tool for creative decoration. Dividing the frosting into red, green, and white allows you to pipe the Santa hats and Christmas trees with vibrant, holiday-themed colors. Using gel food coloring rather than liquid is recommended because it won’t alter the consistency of the frosting. For those looking to add a special touch, sprinkles and sanding sugar can introduce texture and extra sparkle. White sprinkles mimic snow on the Christmas tree brownies, enhancing the seasonal appearance. Piping the frosting in loops or zig-zags creates a three-dimensional tree effect, while stacked curves form the Santa hats, finished with a white “pom pom.” This recipe also encourages creativity, as you can adapt the decorations based on your preferences or the supplies you have. For instance, small edible stars or silver dragees can replace the white dot on the tree top for a more elegant look. Finally, this dessert is great for holiday gatherings because it combines the classic comfort of brownies with festive cheer, making them a memorable and enjoyable treat. Whether you're baking with kids or preparing for a party, these Christmas-themed brownies are sure to spread holiday magic in every bite.
