Coquito’s silky cousin just entered the chat… 🍮🎄✨
Puerto Rican Flan is truly the holiday dessert of the Caribbean — creamy, glossy, caramel-drenched, and melt-in-your-mouth smooth. If you’ve never made flan before, THIS is your sign. It’s simple, elegant, and the flavor is unreal. 🤍🔥
✨ Ingredients
For the Caramel:
• 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
• ¼ cup (60ml) water
For the Flan Custard:
• 1 can (14 oz / 396g) sweetened condensed milk
• 1 can (12 oz / 354ml) evaporated milk
• 1 package (8 oz / 226g) cream cheese, softened
• 4 large eggs
• 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
• Pinch of salt
Instructions
1️⃣ Make the Caramel
1. In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, add sugar and water.
2. Do NOT stir; let it melt slowly until it turns golden amber.
3. Immediately pour the caramel into your flan mold or round baking pan (6–8 inches).
4. Tilt the pan to coat the bottom evenly.
5. Set aside to harden.
2️⃣ Make the Flan Mixture
1. In a blender, add:
• Condensed milk
• Evaporated milk
• Cream cheese
• Eggs
• Vanilla
• Salt
2. Blend until completely smooth (about 20–30 seconds).
⸻
3️⃣ Bake the Flan (Baño María)
1. Pour the blended mixture over the hardened caramel.
2. Place the flan mold inside a larger baking pan.
3. Fill the bigger pan halfway with hot water to create a water bath.
4. Bake at 350°F (177°C) for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 min, or until the center is set but still slightly jiggly.
5. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
6. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
4️⃣ Flip + Serve
1. Run a knife around the edges of the flan.
2. Place a large plate over the top and flip confidently.
3. Let the caramel cascade over the flan — the best part! 😍
