Not incapable. Just early in the game.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what my “thing” is.

You know how everyone seems to have something that’s so them—their voice, their style, their presence.

And it feels like they’ve already figured it out.

Meanwhile, I’m here… still exploring.

I realised something about myself recently:

I’m actually really good at putting my thoughts into words. Writing feels natural to me.

But turning those same thoughts into video?

That’s where I struggle.

It feels unfamiliar. Slightly uncomfortable.

Like I’m translating a language I’m not fully fluent in yet.

And maybe that’s okay.

Maybe this phase isn’t about getting it right—

it’s about experimenting, showing up, and being honest about where I am right now.

Not where I wish I was.

Because finding your voice doesn’t happen overnight.

It comes from trying, reflecting, adjusting… and trying again.

So if you’re feeling like you haven’t found your “thing” yet—

maybe you’re not incapable.

Maybe you’re just early in the game.

And that’s exactly where you’re supposed to be at the time you should be.

... Read moreFinding your unique voice is a journey that many creators and individuals experience at various points in their lives. From my own experience, especially reflecting on the idea of being "early in the game," the key is to acknowledge that discomfort is a natural part of growth. Just like the article mentions struggling to translate thoughts from writing into video, I found that stepping out of my comfort zone in any new medium demands patience and self-compassion. When I first started exploring my own creative expressions, whether it was through blogging, photography, or video, I often felt like others had it all figured out. But over time, I learned that everyone’s timeline is different. The phrase "weekly reflection finding your thing" resonates strongly because regular self-reflection helps you recognize your evolving style and strengths. One practical tip I’ve found valuable is to treat the early stage as a playground for experimentation. Don’t be afraid to share rough drafts or imperfect videos. Engaging with your audience honestly about where you are encourages authenticity, which is more compelling than polished but forced content. It’s a growth mindset in action—trying, learning, adjusting, and trying again. Moreover, tying your progress to journaling or diaries can deepen your self-awareness. Writing down what feels right and what doesn’t helps chart your creative development. As Angelica shares, being honest with yourself about where you stand makes the process less daunting and more manageable. Remember, finding your "thing" is not about instantly mastering a skill but about consistent presence and exploration. Embrace your early moments with kindness and curiosity because that foundation leads to true authenticity and connection in your creative journey.
