Pregnancy friendly immune support

Being sick in general sucks. But being sick AND pregnant? RIP good sleep

I don’t like the idea of taking any medications while I’m pregnant so here’s what I’ve been taking/eating to support my body more holistically

*Note: I’m not a health professional so if there’s anything you’re unsure of definitely check with your doctor/physician

... Read moreGetting a sore throat when you're pregnant is truly the worst! Dealing with that scratchy, painful feeling on top of all the other pregnancy symptoms can really wear you down. Like many of you, I really try to avoid medications during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. So, when that familiar tickle starts, I turn to my trusted arsenal of pregnancy-safe home remedies to find relief and boost my immune system naturally. One of my absolute go-to remedies for a sore throat is a warm, soothing drink. Nothing beats a mug of honey and lemon tea. The honey is a natural cough suppressant and coats your throat beautifully, providing instant relief from irritation. Lemon adds a refreshing zing and a dose of Vitamin C, which is always welcome when you're fighting off a bug. I also love to brew a cup of chamomile tea. It's not just for relaxation; chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce swelling and pain in your throat. Plus, the warmth itself feels incredibly comforting. Another fantastic option that pulls double duty for immunity and throat comfort is bone broth. I always keep a packet of tomato basil chicken bone broth or similar on hand. Sipping on warm bone broth delivers essential nutrients and collagen, which are great for your overall immune health, and it's incredibly gentle and soothing on a raw throat. It’s like a warm hug from the inside! For more direct relief, I've found propolis immune support throat spray to be a lifesaver. This little yellow bottle contains propolis, which has natural antimicrobial properties. A quick spray can help calm irritation and reduce discomfort. As with anything new you're introducing during pregnancy, it’s always a good idea to check with your doctor to ensure it's right for you. Staying hydrated is absolutely critical when you have a sore throat, as it helps keep your throat moist and can thin mucus. Water is always king, but sometimes you need a little extra boost. That's where electrolytes come in. I like to mix up a packet of grape or orange pineapple flavored electrolytes to replenish what my body might be losing, especially if I'm feeling a bit run down. You can also get electrolytes from natural sources like coconut water or by adding a pinch of sea salt to your water. Beyond targeted remedies, supporting your overall health with nutrient-dense foods is key to recovering faster. I focus on incorporating lots of whole foods into my diet. For instance, eggs are a fantastic source of protein and choline, which is beneficial for baby's development. And when I'm feeling under the weather, I crave comforting meals like a warm bowl of organic roasted red pepper and tomato soup. It’s easy to eat, hydrating, and packed with vitamins. Don't forget your fruits! Raspberries and blueberries are bursting with antioxidants that help fight off illness and support your immune system. Finally, remember to listen to your body and prioritize rest. Pregnancy is hard enough without adding sickness to the mix. Give yourself permission to slow down, rest, and let your body heal. While these home remedies have worked wonders for me, please remember I'm not a medical professional. Always consult your doctor or physician if you have any concerns or if your symptoms worsen.
