I'm taking it all "In"

I'm watching my "Mom" show another person how to play a song. I've already learned "It". And I am 7 years old. after watching my Mom play it the "Second Time". I started playing guitar a couple months later.

... Read moreWatching a loved one play an instrument can be an incredibly powerful motivator, especially for young children. From my experience, simply observing my mom teach someone else a song not only sparked my curiosity but also gave me the confidence that I could learn too. I remember how the second time I watched her play that song, things started to click for me more clearly. Starting guitar lessons after this moment felt natural rather than forced, because I was eager to take in everything I saw—almost like soaking it all "in." This hands-on observational learning gave me a foundation that formal lessons later built upon. It also helped me appreciate the effort and patience involved in mastering an instrument. For parents and instructors, this shows how important it is to create opportunities for children to experience music through real-life examples and shared activities. Encouraging kids to watch and listen first can make the learning process more approachable and fun. The acronym "HAP," as seen in the image related to this story, might stand for "Hear, Absorb, Play," which aligns well with this method of learning music. Hearing the music, absorbing the mechanics and feeling, then trying to play themselves is a natural progression in developing musical skills. Overall, my journey starting at age 7 taught me that early exposure combined with a nurturing environment can turn interest into passion. Whether it’s guitar, piano, or any other instrument, the initial spark often comes from simply watching others in action and feeling inspired to be part of that creative expression.
