🍋8️⃣ Beauties,

Did you know that you shouldn’t use scented soaps/ sprays/ perfumes on or near your vagina? They can irritate the sensitive skin around the vulva, disrupt the natural pH balance of the vagina, and potentially increase the risk of yeast infections. Also, it masks the natural smells of the body; which makes it difficult for women to detect if they have an infection or not.

What advice would I give you🤷🏾‍♀️ Stick to plain, unscented soap or just warm water when cleaning the external area.

If you have been washing with scented soap/ using sprays/ perfumes, it’s time to change. Here’s a simple rule to abide by, use unscented soap on parts of your body that grows hair. Why? These areas are generally more sensitive and prone to infection.

It's important to understand the role of pH balance and how it can be influenced by various factors, including hygiene practices and product choices. The vagina is self-cleaning, and using scented soaps or feminine sprays can disrupt its delicate balance, leading to infections or discomfort. For optimal vaginal health, consider incorporating probiotic-rich foods like yogurt and fermented vegetables into your diet. Probiotics help maintain a healthy vaginal microbiota, reducing the risk of yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. Furthermore, staying hydrated and consuming fruits and vegetables packed with vitamins can also support overall reproductive health. Foods rich in antioxidants may further enhance your well-being. Additionally, regular check-ups with your healthcare provider can help monitor your vaginal health. Pay close attention to your body and any unusual symptoms, such as odor changes or discharge imbalances. Early intervention can prevent more significant health issues and improve your quality of life.
