My Circulatory System Project
It took like 2-4 days to make the board and the model, my model is not the one on the plate, it the circle looking one kind of.
Working on my own model of the circulatory system really helped me grasp how complex yet fascinating this system is. Unlike the typical flat board projects, I chose a circular, 3D model that visually shows how the heart separates oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor blood through the septum. This thin muscular wall divides the heart into two sides, preventing the mixing of deoxygenated and oxygenated blood. One interesting fact I learned is how the blood travels through different chambers—the atria and ventricles—each with their distinct functions. The right atrium receives oxygen-poor blood and passes it to the right ventricle, which pumps it to the lungs via the pulmonary arteries. This is where carbon dioxide leaves the bloodstream and oxygen is absorbed. Then, the pulmonary veins bring oxygen-rich blood back to the left atrium, which sends it to the left ventricle, the strongest chamber. The left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood into the aorta, the largest artery, distributing it to the entire body. Creating this model took several days, but the hands-on experience deepened my understanding of how arteries carry blood away from the heart while veins bring it back. The role of tiny capillaries, which are only one cell thick, also became clear as the sites where oxygen and nutrients transfer to tissues and carbon dioxide and wastes are collected. From personal experience, building and labeling each part of the circulatory system clarified how vital this network is for life. It’s amazing how coordinated each component is to maintain oxygen supply, which is essential for organ function and overall health. I’d encourage anyone doing this project to focus on the septum and blood flow directions—it really ties everything together and gives a clearer picture of how the heart and vessels work as a unit.
