NEST WITH ME 17 weeks pregnant 🩵
Being 17 weeks pregnant is such a unique phase, and I've found myself already diving into a bit of early nesting! While many people associate nesting with the final weeks of pregnancy, I've realized that starting early, especially during the second trimester, can actually make the whole process feel much less overwhelming and more enjoyable. It's not about frantically cleaning, but more about thoughtful preparation and creating a serene space for our little one. For me, nesting at 17 weeks looks a little different than what I imagine the later stages will be. Right now, it's all about research and gentle organization. I’ve been spending time curating baby registries online, comparing different strollers, car seats, and cribs. It’s a lot to take in, but breaking it down into small tasks each week makes it feel manageable. I’m also starting to think about nursery themes and color palettes – nothing concrete yet, but gathering inspiration and ideas brings me so much joy. There’s something so merry and hopeful about envisioning their tiny space and all the memories we'll make there. One thing I've found incredibly helpful is decluttering. It's amazing how much stuff accumulates! I've started going through closets and drawers, donating items we no longer need, and organizing what we want to keep. This not only creates valuable space for baby essentials but also gives our home a lighter, more organized feel. It truly feels like I'm making literal and mental room for this new, exciting chapter. Beyond just decluttering, I've also begun brainstorming meal prep ideas for postpartum. Knowing that I’ll have some freezer meals ready to go after baby arrives gives me such peace of mind. Beyond the physical preparations, I'm also focusing on 'mental nesting.' This involves reading up on newborn care, breastfeeding basics, and gentle sleep approaches. Knowledge is empowering, and feeling prepared in my mind helps ease any anxieties about the unknown. I’m also connecting with other moms-to-be and new parents, gathering their wisdom and advice – sharing experiences has been invaluable. Sometimes, nesting means just taking a quiet moment to visualize life with a baby and allowing myself to feel all the emotions that come with it. If you're around the same stage of pregnancy, my advice would be to start small and listen to your body. Don't feel pressured to have everything perfect right away. Focus on tasks that bring you a sense of calm and readiness. Maybe it’s organizing just one drawer, researching one big-ticket item, or simply creating a playlist of calming music for the nursery. This early nesting period is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your pregnancy and prepare for your baby's arrival in a mindful way. It’s a beautiful part of this incredible journey, and I’m cherishing every moment of it as I get ready to welcome our newest family member. Remember, every little step counts towards building your perfect nest.
