Trying hot pot with family for the first time can be both exciting and a little daunting, but it’s such a rewarding experience. One of the best things about hot pot is how interactive it is—everyone gets to cook their own ingredients right at the table, creating a fun and communal atmosphere. When we started, we made sure to pick a variety of broth bases to please all tastes, including spicy tomato cheese toppoki and classic savory seafood broths. The combination of the fresh raw shrimp, calamari, bay scallops, and mussels really elevated the flavor, making each bite delicious. A little tip I found helpful is to prepare a small salad or appetizer bar with light options, so you can complement the rich flavors of the hot pot without feeling too heavy. Plus, dipping sauces bring a whole new dimension to the meal—mixing soy sauce, garlic, chili oil, and sesame really amps up the taste. Overall, hot pot is a fantastic way to enjoy quality time with family, share great food, and create lasting memories. If you’re new to hot pot, I recommend starting with smaller portions of a wide range of ingredients so you can discover your favorites. It truly is a cozy and interactive dining experience that I can see myself doing again and again.
