... Read moreI've always thought that staying hydrated during meals and sticking to salads daily were the best ways to maintain good health. However, after experiencing persistent bloating and discomfort, I realized these habits might actually be impacting my gut negatively. Drinking water while eating seemed harmless, but it turns out that it can dilute stomach acid, slowing digestion and causing bloating. Similarly, eating raw veggies every day can be tough on the gut because they ferment in the digestive tract, generating trapped gas. Another surprising culprit I found was constant snacking. Giving the gut no resting time between meals led to ongoing inflammation, making digestion more difficult. I also discovered that many protein bars marketed as healthy snacks contain sugar alcohols that my gut couldn't digest, causing unexplained gas and discomfort. By adjusting these habits—spacing out meals, limiting raw salads, reducing water intake during meals, and opting for whole foods over processed protein bars—I noticed significant improvement in my digestion and overall gut comfort. It’s clear that what’s traditionally considered 'healthy' isn’t always gut-friendly for everyone. Listening to your body and fine-tuning these everyday habits can make a big difference in maintaining a happy gut.
