5-years 5-months seizure free

What day is it? It’s The 12th. OH WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY IT IS. What’s so special about the 12th? Glad you asked

CALEB IS FIVE YEARS and FIVE MONTHS seizure-free since having brain surgery 2/12/2020. Oh it is wonderful. NO matter what the day brings, The 12th of every month is meant for celebration. Another month seizure free.

Monday 2/10/2020 was the first surgery to place the electrodes to map the brain. Wednesday 2/12/2020 was the second surgery. Brain surgery that’s major and his healing is a miracle.

He goes without prepping an exit plan. There are no more “marco/polo” days. I don’t have to be within arms length even when he wasn’t looking just in case I had to catch him. I’m not in hyper mom mode 24/7. He can sneak away unnoticed.

Any time I get discouraged, I remember the storm. I am forever grateful the bumps, scrapes and bruises are behind us. I am so so so so excited for these normal days. To be here, not worrying while he is working out, at church, working or roaming. I used to pick him up, protect his head, survey our surroundings and now I just enjoy the day.

Miracles do happen. Never give up on your healing. He had faith in the miracle that would come with having surgery. He is a blessing and my inspiration. This calms my soul.

Every Wednesday is another week seizure free. The 12th of every month is a special reason to celebrate another month seizure-free from brain surgery 2/12/2020!!! ANOTHER month seizure free.

My heart is overjoyed. ♪ ♫ ♫ ♪

YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE - I used to sing You are my sunshine to time the length of his seizures, now I sing it just because and that is a blessing

... Read moreOn February 12, 2023, we celebrated an incredible milestone—five years and five months seizure-free for Caleb, following his brain surgery on February 12, 2020. This journey of healing didn’t just involve the physical removal of electrodes during the surgeries on February 10 and 12, 2020, but it also transformed our day-to-day lives completely. Since that transformative date, the monthly 12th has become a cherished occasion to reflect on our experiences and to celebrate the uninterrupted days of freedom Caleb enjoys now. We used to live in constant vigilance, managing every potential hazard during his seizures. The “marco/polo” days are behind us, allowing him to explore freely and participate fully in activities without the underlying worry of his past condition. This remarkable change has opened our lives to a new reality filled with joy. Caleb now engages in normal activities—working out, attending church, and hanging out with friends—without the shadow of seizures looming over our heads. Each encouraging moment reminds us that miracles do happen; they are a testament to whoever has faith and resolves to push through challenges. Reflecting on the journey, I recall the tough storms we faced along the way. Each bump in the road made us stronger and brought a deeper appreciation for our new normal. Friday evenings, once punctuated with anxious anticipation, have transformed into cherished family moments filled with laughter. In the greater community of families grappling with similar challenges, remember that hope exists. The journey to healing is possible, and celebrating these milestones—like every Wednesday or the 12th of each month—reinforces the resilience we can have. Celebrating his achievements keeps our spirits high and nourishes our gratitude for every worry-free moment we share. Caleb has shown us that, despite difficulties, it’s still possible to have joy. And as we sing “You Are My Sunshine,” I am reminded of the great leap we took together and how every cheerful note represents our love and life unbound by fear. Healing is a process, and celebrating each step toward freedom from seizures is vital—today and every day.
