Honestly?! Do you trust your doctor?

#lemon8contest #AskLemon8 #RealTalk United States I have dealt with doctors since a young age and not just your normal check up. Finding out new things, being misdiagnosed. Having surgerys, and test done. It has lead me to finding out not all doctors know what they’re talking about most make assumptions; until finding out the real issue ,not all doctors are equally knowledgeable, And others are better than some. honestly I only trust 3 of my current doctors,I know my body! I recently just had an appointment with my psychiatrist and told them I stopped taking my new medication because it gave me hives and I’m obviously allergic and they really tried to act like I didn’t get hives from the medication and that it could be something else that gave me hives. Fast forward to present day since I stopped taking it my hives have subsided. There are still lesions that are still healing, but they’re not angry like the nurse said when I went to the ER she said your hives are very angry.😱🫣 #questionstoask

... Read moreTrust between patients and doctors is a cornerstone of effective healthcare but can be challenged when patients experience misdiagnosis or feel their concerns are dismissed. It’s important to recognize that doctors have varying levels of expertise and familiarity with specific conditions, which can impact diagnosis and treatment quality. Patients who feel unheard or mistrusted may suffer from unnecessary anxiety or treatment delays. One common issue highlighted is allergic reactions to medications, such as hives caused by new prescriptions. Allergic reactions can sometimes be misinterpreted or downplayed by healthcare providers, leading patients to feel they must insist on their experiences to receive proper care. Hives, especially when described as “angry” or severe, can indicate serious allergic responses that require immediate attention. To improve trust and outcomes, consider the following strategies: - Keep detailed records of symptoms and reactions to medications. - Seek second opinions when unsure about diagnoses or treatment plans. - Communicate openly with healthcare providers about concerns and past experiences. - Educate yourself on medical conditions and treatments to have informed discussions with your doctors. Building a collaborative relationship encourages better outcomes and empowers patients to advocate for their health effectively. Remember, knowing your body and recognizing when something is wrong is vital. Not all doctors will have the answers right away, but persistence and clear communication can lead to the right diagnosis and treatment plan.
