From my experience, the key is to move away from striving for 'perfection' and instead focus on what feels the most natural and flattering to you. For instance, I found that slight angle changes—turning my face 45 degrees instead of a straight-on shot—highlighted my cheekbones and gave a vibrant look. Trying out different smiles, such as a soft smile or a confident smize (smile with your eyes), helped me feel more relaxed and genuine in pictures. Lighting also plays a crucial role. Using natural light, especially during the golden hour (shortly after sunrise or before sunset), adds warmth and softness to your images. I usually position myself near a window with indirect morning light, which avoids harsh shadows and brings out the best in my skin tone. Keeping notes on which angles and expressions work best helps build confidence over time. Make it a fun exercise by taking selfies from both sides, with varied expressions—big smile, closed mouth, candid laugh, or serious look. Save your favorites and refer back when preparing for events or social media posts. The glow up goal is not just external appearance but also cultivating self-assurance. Mastering your own unique way to pose instills a sense of control and comfort in front of the camera, which translates into looking more photogenic naturally. Remember, confidence truly is your best angle. Incorporate this practice into your daily routine or whenever you need a confidence boost.
