Would you put cotton candy in your Sukiyaki? 🍬🤔

Honestly, we were skeptical... but the concept is lowkey genius! 🍬 If you’re bored of the usual Japanese food, you actually have to check this out. It’s super creative and such a vibe for your next dinner date ✨

Here’s the breakdown of what we tried:

1. Cotton Candy Sukiyaki ($24+) 🍬

This is 10/10 for the aesthetics. Once the cotton candy melts, it creates this super bold, sweet broth. 🍲 We did find it a little sweeter than what we’re usually used to, but it was still such a fun experience! The beef slices were so tender 🥩 Pro-tip: don't leave them in too long (like we did lol). Just a few seconds is enough!

2. Bear Nabe ($18+) 🐻

Okay, this was way too cute to eat. It’s a soup-base bear wrapping itself in pork belly! It takes a bit of time to melt down, but the broth had a strong pork flavour.

3. The Chazuke Sets (The Real MVP 🏆)

These were our absolute favs!

✨ Wagyu Truffle ($26.18+): The beef quality is elite. Super soft and works so well with the truffle notes.

✨ Premium Hokkaido ($25.18+): Loaded with salmon, scallop, tuna, and popping fish roe. Pouring that hot broth over the fresh seafood is the ultimate foodie experience 🌊

4. Spicy Ramen ($18+) 🍜

If you need that spicy kick, this is super shiok. Very comforting bowl!

We’re definitely coming back when the Japan cravings hit. It’s the perfect spot to bring your foodie bestie who loves a good "main character" meal! 📸

Would you rather try the cotton candy sukiyaki or the cute bear nabe first, or go straight for the chazuke sets? Let me know in the comments! 👇

Katanashi AN

... Read moreTrying out inventive dishes like cotton candy sukiyaki at Katanashi AN truly transforms your typical Japanese meal into an extraordinary experience. When the cotton candy melts, it infuses the broth with a tempting sweetness that contrasts the savory, tender beef slices, offering an unusual yet delightful flavor profile. From personal experience, balancing the beef cooking time is key — a quick dip preserves tenderness and prevents overcooking, enhancing the dish's texture. Besides the cotton candy marvel, the bear nabe is an adorable presentation that tastes as good as it looks. The rich pork broth slowly develops as the pork belly melts into the soup, delivering comforting warmth and a deep umami punch. This dish is a great option for those who enjoy hearty flavors with a playful twist. The chazuke sets are a highlight — pouring hot broth over fresh seafood like salmon, scallops, and tuna releases an aromatic steam that elevates the natural flavors remarkably. The wagyu truffle set, in particular, pairs the luxurious softness of wagyu beef with aromatic truffle notes, making it ideal for special occasions or impressing a dinner date. For those craving a bit of spice, the spicy ramen here brings a comforting heat that's satisfying without overwhelming. Its rich broth and well-balanced spice level make it a go-to for fans of bold flavors. What makes Katanashi AN stand out is its innovative approach to traditional Japanese dishes, turning dining into an interactive and visually captivating event. Sharing these unique plates with friends not only satisfies culinary curiosity but also sparks lively conversation and memorable moments. If you’re looking to break away from standard Japanese fare and explore creative culinary ideas that are as fun to eat as they are to photograph, this spot is a must-visit. Next time you have a craving for Japanese cuisine with a twist, consider trying the cotton candy sukiyaki or the charming bear nabe first — each offering a distinct taste adventure that complements the unforgettable chazuke sets perfectly.
