Starting Bulk Stats: Height 5’11, BW 165lbsA

2025/1/12 Edited to

... Read moreStarting my bulking journey has been such an exciting step, and honestly, taking these gym mirror progress photos is a huge part of keeping me motivated! When I first decided to really commit to gaining muscle, one of the biggest pieces of advice I got was to document everything, especially visually. It’s so easy to feel like you’re not making progress day-to-day, but looking back at those early shots can really show you how far you’ve come. It helps build confidence and pinpoint areas for improvement. For these initial photos, I made sure to capture a few key poses. It's not just about snapping a quick pic, but really trying to showcase certain muscle groups. I tried flexing my biceps to see arm development and also posed to highlight my triceps and back muscles. Getting good lighting in the gym locker room really helps to make the definition pop, even when you're just starting out. I’m currently at 5’11” and 165lbs, and the goal is to consistently track how my body adapts to the increased calories and heavier lifts. One thing I've learned about taking good progress photos, especially when showing off your physique in a tank top like I am, is the importance of consistency. Try to take them at the same time of day, in the same spot, and in similar lighting conditions. This makes it much easier to compare photos side-by-side and truly see subtle changes. Don't get discouraged if you don't see massive changes overnight; bulking is a marathon, not a sprint! Experiment with different angles that best highlight your bulking progress. Beyond the photos, my bulk involves a lot of planning. I'm focusing on a calorie surplus with plenty of protein to fuel muscle growth. My workouts are structured around compound movements, gradually increasing weight and intensity. It’s a challenge to eat enough sometimes, but I’m experimenting with different meal prep ideas to make it more manageable. Staying hydrated and getting enough sleep are also non-negotiable for recovery and growth. I’ve found that tracking my macros helps immensely to ensure I’m hitting my targets consistently. I’m really looking forward to sharing more of this journey. These early mirror shots are my baseline, and I can't wait to look back in a few months and see the transformation. It’s all about trusting the process and staying consistent. If you’re thinking about starting your own bulk or fitness journey, my biggest tip would be to start documenting it now – photos, stats, even how you feel. It’s an invaluable tool for staying accountable and celebrating those wins, big or small!

I try to eat 100-120g of protein a day & buying most things in bulk from Costco has helped SO MUCH! I also try to follow a 1:10 ratio of protein:cals as much as I can! So if something has 200 cals, it should have at least 20g protein. Another way to check is to drop the last number from the cal
