BEFORE MY SURGERY

Brooklyn

... Read morePreparing for surgery can be a stressful experience, but taking the right steps beforehand can greatly improve both your mindset and physical readiness. One important aspect I learned was to thoroughly understand the procedure by discussing it with my surgeon. Knowing what to expect helped reduce anxiety and made me feel more in control. Another crucial step is organizing your home for post-surgery recovery. Setting up a comfortable resting space with easy access to necessities like water, medications, and entertainment can make a significant difference. It’s also beneficial to arrange for someone to assist you during the first few days after surgery. In the weeks leading up to surgery, I focused on maintaining a healthy diet and staying hydrated to support my immune system. Avoiding smoking and alcohol was vital, as they can interfere with anesthesia and slow healing. Mentally, practicing relaxation techniques such as meditation and deep breathing exercises helped me manage pre-surgery nerves. Additionally, preparing a checklist of questions and concerns ensured I didn’t forget anything during consultations. Lastly, following all pre-operative instructions from healthcare providers closely—such as fasting requirements or medication adjustments—is essential for safety and procedure success. By sharing these personal experiences and preparation tips, I hope to help others navigate the pre-surgery phase with confidence and ease.

Why sterilize the trays? 👀 before surgery
@Lemon8 Career Because sterile processing is the backbone of surgery. While the OR gets all the spotlight, we’re the ones making sure every tool is sterile, safe, and ready for the next procedure. What I do daily may look repetitive — but it’s life-saving. Here’s what it really means to
