Growing up around judgmental people

1/7 Edited to

... Read moreGrowing up around judgmental people often deeply influences the way we perceive ourselves and interact with the world. From personal experience, I've noticed that the critical voices of close family or peers can become internalized, turning into an inner critic that echoes their judgments. This process can be particularly challenging for those who identify as neurodivergent or who are managing conditions like OCD, as their inner voice might become even more intense or harsh. One crucial step in healing is becoming aware of these internalized judgments and understanding that they are not necessarily reflective of your true self. Therapy can be an invaluable resource here; cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), for example, offers techniques to identify and reframe negative thought patterns shaped by past judgment. Moreover, engaging with communities that promote mental health awareness provides a supportive environment to share experiences and gain insights. The hashtags #mentalhealthawareness, #neurodivergent, #ocdawareness, #therapy, and #healing are gateways to learning and connecting with others who have faced similar challenges. In my journey, adopting mindfulness practices helped increase self-compassion, allowing me to gently question and challenge my internalized negative beliefs. Over time, replacing that harsh inner voice with affirming and nurturing thoughts improved my confidence and resilience. If you find yourself struggling with these echoed judgments, remember that healing is a process. It involves patience, self-compassion, and often professional support. Embracing your unique neurodivergence or mental health journey can transform these critical inner voices into ones that empower rather than diminish you.

Critical or judgmental women usually project guilt, disappointment, or shame when their expectations aren't met. They have learned to maintain "ideal" standards for how things should be and how people should act. And when these standards aren't met, they get critical, controlling, and judgmental.
