The BestHomemade Tortilla Chips
Equipment:
- Frying pan (or your preferred means of frying)
- Bowl or deep tin pan
- Paper Towels
- Large cutting knife
- Cutting board
Ingredients:
- White Corn Tortillas
- Avacado Oil
- Tajin Seasoning
Instructions:
- add oil to preferred frying pan and set to medium low. 3-4 (this may vary depending on your stove or fryer)
- while your oil is heating, line your tun pan or bowl with a fair padding of paper towels.
- open your corn tortillas and grab about 2-3 inch height of tortillas.
- place them on the cutting board and cut into 4s by cutting half then half again.
- separate each piece around a place for easier and faster grab and drops into the oil.
- check your oil by dipping the tip of a tortilla into the oil. if it gives a loud abundant sizzle, it is ready to fry.
- begin by adding 3 tortillas into the oil and flip once all of them are in. you are looking for a light golden color so continue to flip until your chips are nice and even. lightely pressing each down into the oil and releasing any air bubbles that develop.
- once you have reached a fair golden color(1-3 minutes) grab all of the chips up with some tongs or a straining scoop, let the excess oil drip off before dropping them into your bowl or tin pan lined with paper towels.
- Now you can dust each batch of 3 with a light layer of Tajin or you can wait to dust every 3- 4 batches.
