「コペルニクス的転回（転換）」って、ざっくり言うと“世界の見え方がひっくり返るレベルの発想の大転換”のこと。もともとは天文学のコペルニクスが「地球が宇宙の中心」ではなく「地球が太陽の周りを回っている」と示して、当時の“常識”を根本から覆した出来事に由来します。だから日常会話で「考え方が180度変わった＝コペルニクス的転回」と言われるのは、単なる気分転換や小さな改善じゃなく、前提そのものが入れ替わった時の比喩なんですよね。 私の場合、この言葉がしっくりきたのは「思い込み」に名前がついた瞬間でした。たとえば『FACTFULNESS（ファクトフルネス）』を読んだ後、ニュースの見方が変わりました。悲観的な印象だけで判断していたのが、数字やデータの“見方のクセ”に気づいて、「自分の頭が勝手に物語を作ってたかも」と立ち止まれるように。 「誰的転回って言うの？」と検索する人が多いけど、一般に正しい表現は“コペルニクス的転回（転換）”。（文脈によっては“パラダイムシフト”も近いです。）一方で、哲学ではカントの「コペルニクス的転回」という言い方もあって、対象に合わせて認識が決まるのではなく、認識の枠組みが対象の見え方を決める…という話につながります。ここが分かると、「当たり前が崩れる本」を読む面白さが増えます。 7冊を手に取るときのコツも書いておきます。いきなり全部読もうとすると挫折しがちなので、まずは“違和感が強い問い”がある本から入るのがおすすめ。例えば『知ってるつもり 無知の科学』の「チェーンとペダルが描けますか？」みたいな問いは、読む前から刺さりました。自分は分かっているつもりでも、説明できない＝理解していない、という感覚が一気に露わになります。 それから『自分のあたりまえを切り崩す文化人類学入門』みたいに、「家族に血のつながりは大切？」「親が日本人＝子も日本人？」と、価値観の前提を問う本は、読後に日常の会話が“パラレルワールド”っぽく見える瞬間が出てきます。相手を論破するためじゃなく、「自分の常識もローカルルールかも」と気づけるのが一番の収穫でした。 最後に、コペルニクス的転回が起きたかどうかの目安はシンプルで、読後に「元の考えに戻れない」感覚があるかどうか。明日からの選び方（情報の取り方、仕事の進め方、人の見方）が少しでも変わったら、それはもう十分“転回”だと思います。
