Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
Why are y’all so pressed about what other people read? 😭
Everybody is not supposed to like the same books and that’s okay. Read what YOU enjoy and let people live. This ain’t a reading dictatorship… relax.

In my own experience, I've noticed that one of the biggest pressures within book communities is the expectation to read and appreciate the same 'popular' titles. It can feel like there's an unspoken 'book police' judging your choices, much like the phrase captured in the OCR content: "Who tf yall supposed to be?? The book police of." This perfectly reflects the frustration many feel when their personal tastes are scrutinized. What’s most important is embracing what genuinely interests you. For instance, I used to worry about whether my reading list was 'acceptable' or 'trendy' enough, but over time I realized that my enjoyment skyrocketed when I chose books purely for my own pleasure. This freedom cured the anxiety that came from trying to conform. Reading is a personal journey—some may love thrillers, others prefer romance, and others non-fiction or fantasy. No one style is superior or more valid. Our diversity as readers enriches the book community as a whole. If you ever feel overwhelmed by criticism or pressure about your reading choices, remember you have every right to read what brings you joy. Engaging with communities like #BookTok or hashtags such as #ReadingFreedom and #ReadWhatYouWant helps connect you with like-minded readers who value individuality over uniformity. Let's replace 'reading dictatorship' with a celebration of reading freedom. Ultimately, the only rule that matters is: read what YOU want and let others do the same. Relax, enjoy your books, and share your unique tastes confidently—after all, that’s what makes the book community vibrant and inclusive.

💯 people do too much. If it’s not for you keep it moving.
