What I Wish I Knew About Healing

Hey friends! I decided I wanted to get vulnerable with you guys because in all honesty, it was a chore putting up this SIMPLE post.🙃 I constantly get trapped in the rumination of my traumatic past & I wanted to share some things I wish I knew before I decided to start healing. I hope this helps someone💛🥹

1. Focus On You ✨

- This is a hard one for me considering that i’m the oldest daughter. I found that repeating the affirmations are very helpful. I don’t have set ones but I repeat things to myself like “I am in control of my own peace and my energy”, “I’m allowed to remove myself and/or others when there’s negativity present.”, & “I have the power to make the right choices for me.” Once I make a switch in what could take my focus, I literally become unstoppable!

2. The “Waves” 🌊

- I like to refer to the up and down feels as “waves”. One second, I think i’m the baddest b**ch alive and the next, im like deeply emotional about some stuff that happened to me when I was like 8 😭😂 When this happens, I try to redirect my focus to the current moment and try to get myself busy because chances are, I WAS NOT 😭

3. This Rewire is NUTS actually

- I knew that when attempting to heal, I was gonna have to learn how to do certain things again but I didn’t know it was gonna have to be continued by constant practice and reflection. It feels soo weird to do these things that you know are good for you but I have to constantly remind myself that it is all for my bestest self.

I hope this finds someone well. Healing isn’t easy AT ALL. You don’t lose the memories of your trauma, but those memories start to hurt less. Earlier this year, I actually got a therapist who is helping speed up my healing process and I definitely recommend the same!! This is just what I wish I knew. We got this!! I hope y’all are taking care of yourselves and each other 💛

... Read moreHealing is a deeply personal journey that often involves navigating through emotional highs and lows. Understanding the nature of these 'waves' is crucial in maintaining your mental health. Many people, during their healing process, find themselves fluctuating between feelings of empowerment and moments of vulnerability. It’s essential to have strategies in place for both states. Consider integrating mindfulness practices into your routine, such as meditation or journaling. These can help ground you in the present moment when overwhelming feelings arise. Moreover, having supportive relationships increases resilience during tough times. Sharing your experience with trusted friends or seeking professional help can provide perspective and encouragement. Therapy, for instance, offers techniques to unpack and process traumatic experiences. Also, self-affirmation is a powerful tool; remind yourself regularly of your strength and the progress you've made. Acknowledging your journey can pave the way for healing, creating a healthier mental framework. Remember, healing is not linear, and it’s okay to seek help and give yourself grace as you navigate your past for a brighter future.
